How to Balance Your Life Through Yoga

a Three-Part Series of Extended ParaYoga® Classes

with Barbra Brady, E-RYT, ParaYoga® Certified Level I Teacher

Schedule one or all of these two-hour long classes that explore Rod Stryker’s ParaYoga® and the benefits of combining yogic techniques (asana, pranayama, bandhas, mudras, mantra, meditation, visualization) to bring a balance of calm, stability, and vitality to your practice, and your life. Learn how the “science” of yoga techniques and Ayurveda can  be smoothly blended to make your yoga practice your yoga practice, and enhance your sense of well-being, awareness, and power.

1. Pranayama: The Alchemy of “Tuning Up” Your Life Yogic Breath

Imagine: Feeling calm, steady, and at ease, no matter what life (or your yoga teacher!) presents. With a few simple breath and visualization guidelines, learn how to feel balanced in the most challenging yoga practice, or in your life. Join Barbra for a practice and discussion on deepening your experience of yoga through Pranayama. Far from just mindful breathing, Prana is the “life force,” or subtle, intelligent energy that can keep our life running smoothly. Barbra will discuss ways of managing Prana, how to know when we need to bring in more energy, or when to calm down a jangled energy. We will do a mindful practice where we explore techniques that make that “after-class feel good feeling” last.

2. Tantric Hatha Yoga: An Introduction to Sublime Balance, Bliss, and Contentment

What in the world is Tantric Hatha Yoga? Quite simply, it is a mindful practice of postures, breath, meditation, mantra, and other subtle yogic techniques, that when combined in specific sequencing result in our feeling steady, calm, balanced, alert and happy. Think of Tantra as a cooking class. If we mix just the right posture with the perfect proportions of breath, and ladle in a meditation that complements the other ingredients, the results are a perfectly prepared you. Barbra has been initiated into this tradition through the lineage of the Himalayan Institute, and loves nothing more than to share the beautiful, intelligent “recipes” for living your most balanced and content life.

3. Yoga and Ayurveda: How to Cultivate a Personal Practice

Want to know how to make your yoga practice your yoga practice? Your yoga already feels great, right? Applying the principles of Ayurveda can make it even better, in a way that will enhance your life. Barbra’s yoga tradition, ParaYoga®, is founded in Ayurveda, or “the science of life,” and is sequenced to ensure this balance for the individual. There are times when we need more “fire” to dissolve inertia in our lives; times when we need more “moon,” or calm, and times when we need more “sun,” or “shine.” Join Barbra for a practice and discussion that will show you how to develop a yoga practice that is specific to you and the needs of your body and mood.
